Support » Plugin: Meteor Slides » Is there a way to change the slide order without deleting and starting over?

I give three progams at conferences and the slider has been fine. I just added a new one which I’ll do less frequently, so I want it to show up fourth. But when i add the slide, it’s the first thing on the screen. Is there a way to tell meteor/wp what order to show the slides in, short of deleting them all and readding them?

Yes, you can change the order. The slides are displayed chronologically, just like blog posts, you can edit the published date of a slide post to change the order.

ah. a little clunky, but it works. thank you very much.

The slides are a custom post type, so if you need to sort a lot of slides, you can use a plugin like Simple Custom Post Order to add drag and drop sorting.

that WOULD be nice! If I load that, it works in conjunction with Meteor Slides specifically? Would be great if the next version of MS included that rather than having to know about a plug-in. 😉

It works for any post type, not just slide posts so it’s a great plugin for a variety of uses.

Most Meteor Slides users only have one or two slideshows with a small number of slides, so I wouldn’t want to introduce unneeded complexity to the plugin, but it’s nice to have this as an option when it is needed!

True, most users wouldn’t have all that many slides, but I spent about an hour last night trying to figure out how to rearrange them, when (with that great plug in that i never would have known about without your wonderful help) it became super-intuitive how to rearrange them if I ever needed to.

I’d suggest that there’s nothing complicated to a user about that feature being there if it’s never used, but it’s a terrific feature when you DO want it…and it’s sure hard to know what all the plug-ins out there do. Never even occurred to me that a plug-in COULD do that to another plug-in. 🙂

Happy new year and thanks again!

You’re welcome, I should do a better job of highlighting that in the documentation!
