[resolved] Is there a podcast plugin that works if you don't want your podcast on iTunes? (2 posts)

My site is primarily made up of audio content (basically they're podcasts), which I make available to download and stream. I feel that installing a podcast management plugin would help me manage my content a lot better, but I don't actually want anything to do with iTunes or the iTunes Store. Do any of the available podcast plugins allow you to disable the iTunes Podcast features? I'm not sure how all of that works.

Sure, you can use PowerPress plugin and just never submit your podcast feed to iTunes. All podcast plugins add special <itunes:... /> tags to your RSS feed, which is used by almost all podcatching applications, not just iTunes. e.g. Blubrry.com reads the itunes:duration information so the site knows how long your episode is.

By the way, anyone can still grab your feed and paste it into the subscribe option in iTunes Desktop application, even if your not using a podcasting plugin. The problem with that though is then Apple doesn't have the information needed to make your podcast look good in the iTunes app.
