• In WordPress there is a feature under Appearance -> Theme Editor, where we can edit CSS and JS assets.

I currently have a client who use this approach to manage their website, since they are not very familiar with CLI and systems like Git for theme editing. This works great for them because they can easily edit CSS/JS within the WordPress admin panel.

The problem is that there is no version control, so there is no way to go back to some point in history, plus there is no information on who and when pushed new changes.

Given this context, I’m exploring solutions that could enhance the Theme Editor to support a more collaborative workflow, offering functionalities such as:

    • Version History Tracking (for example like GIT: who, when, what)
    • Merge Capabilities and Conflict Protection (edge cases, for example: 2 people editing the same file, maybe there should be a warning like when editing wordpress pages?)

Are there existing WordPress plugins or tools that meet to these requirements? I would be grateful for any info.
