Is there a good blank theme to build off of out there?

I am running a website and I want to try and make my wordpress blog look like the rest of my site. I am OK at coding and can edit code much better than create it from scratch.

I am trying to make the look and feel of my site match on the WordPress Blog I just created at: http://www.voiprater.com/articles where I post the most recent news in my field of interest.

Is there a good blank theme template out there that is easily editable to make it have the same header/side nav as my site? If not a blank site, is there a good tutorial somewhere that I cant find that explains how to create a custom theme to match the look feel of your current site?
