Support » Plugin: TablePress » Is there a cell limit? (28 col x 700 row CSV crashes edit screen)

  • Resolved SRD75

    Using Tablepress plugin v1.7. Brilliant idea for a plugin!

    I have a table of 28 columns x 791 rows. The CSV is 277 KB.

    After importing this CSV, I am taken to /wp-admin/admin.php?page=tablepress&action=edit&table_id=1, which either loads a white screen, or an what looks like a proper screen, which doesn’t finish loading, and the page doesn’t respond to clicks, or controls.

    Is there a cell limit to the CSV?

    My website PHP memory limit is 1024M.

    thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble as well as for the late reply. I’ve been on holidays and therefore couldn’t reply earlier.

    While there’s no direct limit in TablePress, things like the PHP memory or other server configuration variables can indeed affect this. Can you maybe set the WP_DEBUG constant to true in the wp-config.php file? That could show us some more error information and not just a white screen. Thanks!

    No worries Tobias.

    phpinfo(); shows PHP memory_limit = 1024M

    WP_DEBUG constant was set to true.

    If I load /wp-admin/admin.php?page=tablepress&action=edit&table_id=2 the page starts loding the table, perhaps 100 or 200 rows at a guess (i wasn’t watching it – it was going a bit slow) then the webpage eventually becomes totally white with no content and no error.

    I went back to the same tab, and the previously white page now had the whole table loaded.

    WordPress does not respond to input though. It does if I am not editing that table.

    I went back to the tab that had the white screen / edit table page, and the table was now loaded properly. 🙂

    With my 700 odd rows, each row has the same column with a URL written literally in text. The URL is of an image in the Media Library.

    Is there a way to convert that URL (written in text on the front end), into an image with src=URL?

    yeah, loading large tables can sometimes take a lot of time, also depending on the speed of the browser and the computer. You could maybe try a different browser, as that has shown to be successful for other users.

    Directly converting such a URL to an image would require some custom code. You could maybe take the TablePress Extension from as a starting point.
