Support » Fixing WordPress » Is SSL a nightmare?

  • Hello

I want to install SSL certificate on my sub-domains but no result. I have read many manuals about installing SSL certificate on WordPress and I am using Apache+Nginx+Varnish .

I used many plugins too. Certificate is working fine as I tested it.

    Thanks

No. It is not a nightmare.

Have you reached out to your hosting company? Many are happy to help you get those installed.

    Hi there,

This is really a server configuration issue, and not a WordPress one, and configuring HTTPS with Varnish in the mix isn’t the most straight forward practice, especially if you’re not familiar with server management in the first place.

If you’re looking for a guide, I highly recommend https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-configure-varnish-cache-4-0-with-ssl-termination-on-ubuntu-14-04, the DigitalOcean community have some great guides on this and other server related topics.

For further help, I would honestly suggest you ask the Apache or nginx communities, they are far better equipped for that kind of support than we are here (they both have very active IRC communities for example, where you can chat with and learn from other parts of their community).

For me, anything can be a nightmare till I figure it out. What exact problem are you experiencing? “I used many plugins” could be the problem. SSL does not need any plugins. I would try disabling any SSL-related plugins.

    The problem was with Varnish.
