Support » Plugin: Relevanssi - A Better Search » Is Search on the Database or the Page Content?

    Hi,

Just a quick question that I probably know the answer to! I am looking for a replacement for Google Custom Search and your plugin is the one that everyone recommends. The trouble is the site I am looking at imports a JSON feed from another WordPress site elsewhere. This then makes up pretty much all of the page content. I think the excerpt is there still, but that is it.

In the admin interface and I guess the WordPress database table there is therefore no page content apart from the excerpt and a reference to a page ID on the other site.
If this is the case, I’m guessing that your plugin will not see any of the page content. Is that true or does it look at the rendered page somehow?

    Thanks
    Simon

Yeah, Relevanssi looks at the database contents, not the rendered page.

Check out AddSearch, that’s a pretty solid search solution that looks at rendered pages.
