Is it safe to update Virtue Theme?

    Hi all,

    So I see this morning that an update is available to the Virtue Theme.

    But my dashboard warns me that if I update to the latest version, any changes I made to the Theme will be lost.

    Can OI ask, what does that mean? Which changes will be lost?

    I don’t think I have changed that much, just added a few lines of CSS.

    Is it safe to update, or do I need to do something first to protect my site?

    those changes will be lost unless you have a child theme

    just added a few lines of CSS.

    Where did you add those? I think Virtue has a custom CSS option – if that’s where you added those, they won’t be lost.

    Only changes that you make to theme files – i.e. Appearance > Editor will be overwritten.

    Still, never a bad idea to backup your site before updating :)!

    Yeah, my Editor is ‘Locked’.

    But there are two opinions here. One says safe, one says lost… :0

    All the changes I’ve made to appearance and layout and such, I’ve done through the Theme Options.

    That’s what I’m worried about losing. But you’re right. In any case, backup is a good idea. I’ll get on that first. 🙂

    Theme options are safe from updates, so you should be good to go.

    Well, I backed-up, and updated.

    So far, no screws loose or lost!

    If you’re using the free version of Virute theme you should see an update in your dashboard. Is it not showing for you?

    I see there is an update but it does not tell which are the exact changes. I guess there is a “Release Note” somewhere, right?

    Hi guys.
    I have just updated my Virtue theme in my admin and now I can’t Access my website.
    the site is http://www.happyfrogtravels.com
    Please help me fix it asap.
