How do I switch back to the original configuration

Uninstall the DM plugin & restore your wp-config.php to its state prior to installing DM.

can I do this at any time?

    Yes.

    what are the consequences?

If you leave the mapped domains pointed to your WP install they will redirect to the main site.

Can I just deactivate the plugin if I want to later on turn mapping again?

    Should I also delete sunrise.php from wp-content?

Restore wp-config.php means to just delete define( 'SUNRISE', 'on' ); or is there more to it than that?

Is it possible that there will be some broken links in the database created by WP or other plugins?

I recommend that you uninstall it.

sunrise.php is part of the plugin.

    Yes, just delete that line.

WP wouldn’t but it’s possible that there will be broken links. Are you intending on completely taking down the domains?

I don’t intend to take them down but I did want to know my options regarding this plugin.

sunrise.php is in wp-content because I moved it there. Will it be deleted be uninstalling the plugin?

Out of curiosity, why isn’t it enough to deactivate?

And lastly, about the broken links, I didn’t understand exactly what did you mean.

Thank you very much for your great support 🙂

    No.

And lastly, about the broken links, I didn’t understand exactly what did you mean.

If you write a post and include a link to an image (ex. <img src="http://mappeddomain.com/path/to/image.jpg" />) & you subsequently take the domain down then that image will have a broken link.

I see. And what about links created by WP or a plugin? Will these always use the original address (the unmapped subdomain/subfolder address)?

    (@wpmuguru)

And what about links created by WP or a plugin?

There are ~32000 plugins in the repo (http://wordpress.org/plugins/) & that doesn’t include thousands of plugins that aren’t hosted on wp.org. No one is going to be able to tell how all those plugins function.

    Okay.

Sorry if my questions seemed pointless. It’s just that I really want to understand how this plugin works so I won’t make too much mistakes.

    Thank you for your time.
