• This may seem like a crazy question, but I have a need to create a WordPress network w/in a sub-domain. Is that possible? I have experimented with the WP Multi-Network plugin, but it’s not quite what I am looking for.

This is partly because I am also trying to use Buddypress and some other Plugins that just can’t make the leap of going that deep.

Here is the theoretical (and possibly impossible) scenario:

    1. http://geo1.example.com is the hub of a multi-site network; this site may very well be a buddypress site
    2. sites like http://blogger1.geo1.example.com and http://blogger2.geo1.example.com can be created (not buddypress)

http://geo2.example.com is the hub of a multi-site network, etc.

If I use standard, host-available, tools to create the initial subdomains (like http://geo1.example.com) can I then install a discreet WordPress/Buddypress installation there that won’t get confused or angry at me?

Let me clarify my final paragraph:

If I use standard, host-available, tools to create the initial subdomains (like http://geo1.example.com) can I then install a discreet WordPress *network* w/Buddypress at the top level that won’t get confused or angry at me?

If I understand your question, yes it can be simply done. Take geo1.example.com as typical domain like example.com and setup your multi-site on top of it, I meen setup *.geo1.example.com on dns and apache …

It depends on your host, but yes, it’s possible to make sub-subdomain MultiSite networks. Ask your webhost if you can use nested subdomains first.

Got it. Thank you both for the help. I will check w/my host first.

    Cheers!
