  • is it possible to do it? How can i do it?
I tried to rename index.php to blog.php, but that doesn’t solve as I get blog.php/ as result I can’t have that / on the end…
    I don’t want to have blog.php/ I want to have blog.php just like that…
I can’t use .htaccess to change the index of the website as I have many links that point to index.php and I can’t lose those to the BLOG…

is there any solution for this problem?
(I have seen posts from 6 years ago asking the same without getting answered)

Thee is no generic blog.php template file in WordPress. Perhaps you need to look at Creating_a_Static_Front_Page?

that page doesn’t really have the answer… as on that page the answer is how to have a STATIC page for the blog, but the page is also managed by WP…

the only area of my website that I will have managed by WP is the BLOG all the rest is coded by hand (html and php includes)…

all I want is rename the index.php file from WP to blog.php (or news.php) and keep everything else just as is, so this way I won’t have to mess all the website and all the back links that were already built for the index of the website…

You cannot rename index.php. Install WordPress in a sub-folder and the problem should vanish.

that would make working with my current website theme a NIGHTMARE…
seems like I will have to go with some other platform as WP won’t be able to do the SIMPLEST thing I have thought…

thanks for trying to help me!
