    Dear all,

I love the simplicity of the Edin theme.

I am wondering if it is somehow possible to add effects to a Blog that is hosted on WordPress.com and that runs the Edin theme.

By effects I mean any kind of effects that could highlight, emphasise, transition content on the page.

    Thankfully,

    ~Robert

Hi Robert, I’m not quite sure what you mean. 🙂 Could you perhaps point me to a page or post on the Edin demo at WordPress.com that shows me what you’re referring to? Thanks!

    I realize I misread your question. 🙂

These forums are for folks running the WordPress software on their own hosting. If you need help with your WordPress.com site, you can post in their forums or use the live chat option when available here:

    Hi Kathryn,

I am very thankful for your response!

Indeed, I am running Edin on a WordPress.com hosted blog. But I do not think this should matter for my question.

    To give you some background:

I am managing this site which runs a theme that by default provides these nice effects when scrolling down. Now, for the other site that I am running, and which uses the Edin theme, I would like to have a similar set of effects.

This was the reason why I was asking the question in the first place. 🙂

    Warmly,

    ~ Robert

But I do not think this should matter for my question.

It definitely does matter, since what you can do on WordPress.com and what you can do on a self-hosted site are very different. WordPress.com is a shared platform, running on single multisite WordPress install. You are limited to a curated set of themes, and do not have access to the PHP/HTML theme files, nor can you add code like JavaScript. CSS is limited to sites with a Premium or Business plans, and you cannot add plugins.

You can learn more about the difference between the two flavours of WordPress here:

    http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/11/14/com-or-org/

There aren’t themes with heavy animation effects on WordPress.com, and it’s not something that can be added to a theme there.

If you need further assistance, please follow one of the WordPress.com support routes I mentioned above. Thanks!
