I'm using a responsive theme and
want to add a "tap to call" button
so that it shows up at the top of
the screen - under the menu "bar"

I have put one into the sidebar and
it shows up quite nicely on a full
sized screen... right at the top
    of the page...

yet, when I view the site in my mobile
phone, the "tap to call" button is
    moved way down the page...

suggestions? It would not look appropriate
    stuck in the post/page

Do you have a link to a page where we can see the issue? Likely it's a matter of CSS positioning but without seeing code, I can't say one way or the other.

    Ah okay.

Well, you're going to need to put the push to call button at the top of your normal content if you want it to appear there when on a smaller screen (mobile device). This is because the way most responsive designs deal with sidebars is to make everything "display:block; width:100%;" so everything stacks on top of each other - so content on top followed by the sidebar content (which is why the current button appears down below when the screen is re-sized smaller).

So again, to work around this, just add the push to call button in your main content area.
