Is it possible this plugin is creating extra images?

    Yes,
    it happens if you check “Copy attachments” option in the settings page.
    Disable it to prevent cloning of the attachments.

    Is that a default setting (I’m 100% positive I didn’t choose that)

    Is there a way to trash the duplicates without affecting posts?

    I had the same problem. I did just unchecked “Copy Attachments” and it fixed the problem. But I never remember checking it in the first place. I have been using this plugin fine for a while without this happening. I think it’s something new that started happening about 2-3 weeks ago. Just FYI.

    Lame idea to duplicate freakin images. Pissed me off I have to say. The Media Library exists so you never have to do that. Default should be OFF!
