• Hi! So I have about 5 self-installed WordPress websites, and I want to try WP-MU for my first time.

Will I be able to migrate my existing singular sites into WPMU? (By export-import, or by Database Backup plugin, or by MySQL dump). I understand the themes and plugins might or might not work, and that’s ok. Will the database move over smoothly with my posts, categories, custom fields, mp3 enclosures, and comments?

  • I haven’t a clue. 🙂

Have you asked in the MU forums? http://mu.wordpress.org/forums

You may have better luck asking over there.

I guess I’d check for the new’ish WXR import ability in MU. I think WordPress.COM has it, so that’s a decent omen.

Thanks, I will ask the same question on the WPMU forums. Thought I might find someone who knows on this forum as well, I started here since singular .org self installs are what I have right now.

    Anyone else tried this?

How about this oddball idea — anyone got a WPMU install, *AND* a self-hosted non-MU install or 2 or 3 of WP?

I might end up with both, at least for a while
