This plugin is not a joke, nor does it delete images, ever. We take such things very seriously, and have built in many safeguards to prevent such things.
Possible things that could have happened:
1. The permissions for your images got modified to something unexpected. Your webhost can fix those for you.
2. Lazy loading is enabled but experiencing a problem/conflict. Turn it off, flush all caches (and let us know).
3. Worst case, somehow the images were corrupted, though with all the safeguards in place, this seems impossible. Solution is just to restore from backup, which you’ve probably already done.

I already do that, i had no choices i put a backup in emergency.
And sorry but i also deleted the plugin, as my images.
I test with an other plugin and it worked so… No luck with this one, bad surprises.
I deleted redis cache, varnish cache, restaure my files. He took me a long time (300 000 files).
That was my experience :/
Sorry you had a bad experience, that’s definitely not what we want to see. If you ever need help in the future, let us know. Good luck with that other plugin, there’s no shortage of options!
