Support » Plugin: WooCommerce Sequential Order Numbers » Is is possible to set the post id to the sequential order id?

  • Resolved AJD

We use Shipping Easy and it is not compatible with this plugin, it keeps pulling the post ID number not the sequential order number.

We are sort of stuck because we rely on both sequential order numbers and several third party systems that are not compatible.

Is it possible to make the sequential order # and the actual order number the same? Or to deactivate the plugin in a way that leaves the sequential numbers attached to the orders so they are searchable by that number?

    Hey @ajd!

Thank you for contacting us about our Sequential Order Numbers plugin. I’m happy to help!

I’m sorry to hear that the Shipping Easy plugin doesn’t have compatibility with Sequential Order Numbers. We do offer some recommendations for plugin developers to add this functionality to their plugins, and generally speaking, it isn’t usually too invasive of a change. Would it be possible to reach out to the Shipping Easy developers to see if they were willing to add this in?

We can’t adjust the post ID as this is assigned by WordPress, and while you can deactivate the plugin, it wouldn’t be possible to search on this data without further customizing the WooCommerce search. Thankfully, this shouldn’t be too big of a change! We’ve even written a blog article that details the code snippet that would be required.

What you’d want to do would be to add the ‘_order_number‘ key as a search option. This should then allow you to search by the sequential order number, even with the plugin deactivated.

I’m sorry I can’t assist with a direct implementation, though I hope this was useful nonetheless. Is there anything else I can help out with?

Thanks for the reply. That article will help with what we need to do.
