Have been 8 long months ( almost 1 year ) since the last update on this plugin. While WP core keep getting updates and close to 7php full compatibility.

I’m looking to a reliable alternative, is this author worth a chance??

Yes it is. I have it running on my sites with WP 4.5.2

I just pushed an update to the readme with the compatibility tag updated to the current WP version.
