Is an author page necessary?

    It’s not working for me at the moment and I think I found out why.
    In the diagnostics page the plugin tells me “Your author URL https://rkvssr.nl was replaced, this is often done by plugins.”

    I couldn’t find the plugin that does this. But I have no need for an author page because my blog is just me and nobody else. But it looks like AtivityPub needs one to make me findable on the fediverse as a person.

    Is this correct? And if so is there a way to make a special page (non-frontend) that does just that? I’m not a technical person but I have some sense of how code works and I’m able to copy/paste code in the right spot.

    Tech specs: I’m running WP 6.03 and PHP 8.1 and have Jetpack installed but only active for brute-force attacks and downtime monitoring. Also all the indieweb plugins are active. And next to the ActivePub I also installed webfinger and nodeinfo just to be on the safe side.

    And thank you for making it possible to hook WP to the fediverse and indieweb! Should be part of the core (imho).

    The author page is required. That is how ActivityPub works. The username@domain.tld is only an alias for the profile page in Mastodon and other plattforms. I have some plans to make this a bit easier to use, but atm. you have to have active author pages. Do you use YoastSEO? This is the most common plugin that deactivates author pages.

    Thanks, the Yoast SEO plugin needed a change. But my theme Independent Publisher was also to blame. Had to put it in multi-author mode (didn’t know that it could differentiate). My author page is working again! Looking good on https://webfinger.net/lookup/?resource=erik%40rkvssr.nl and somebody found me on Mastodon. I’m a happy man.
