[Resolved] Is Alpha Ready for Production Sites?

  • I’m having a difficult time changing the url of a post under 3.8.1 – the original url returns after the post is updated. I see that the latest 3.9 alpha has fixed this. Is the 3.9 alpha okay for lightly-trafficked production sites?

  • We don’t recommend you use it on live sites unless you’re willing and able to apply patches for when it breaks your site. Which it might.

If by “patches” you mean the nightly updates, I’m fine. If not, I may need some direction on how to apply patches.

No, patches mean .diff or .patch files you download from trac (core.trac.wordpress.org) and apply to your install.

It’s … well. Nightly is MOSTLY stable 🙂 But if it’s critical to you that your site never have a random error in the middle of the night, I wouldn’t do it. Example? Two weeks ago, there was a bug that changed the publish date of any post when you tried to post or save. Currently you can’t change your admin profile colors.

It’s USUALLY minor stuff like that.

So, what your saying is that right now you can’t change the admin scheme ??

Any reason as to why this was done?? I was working just fine up until the last two updates then it stopped and I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why.

Is there currently a patch for this admin scheme issue ??

    See https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/27175 for details.
