Is a migration from Version 1.4.3 to 2+ recommended ?

    Hi,

    I have been using WPUM on my website for several months. I updated it regularly, up to 1.4.3.
    Now I see there has been a rewriting of the plugin. Do you recommend migrating to latest 2.+ version ? Since it is a complete rewrite, should I expect side effects? (and the advice would be to remain on 1.4.3 (latest version of the 1.+ branch)

    Hi there,

    Since version 2.0 is a complete rewrite, when it was first released there were some issues. The majority of the issues has been fixed while there are some others that still need to be better inspected. The issues that are left, most of the times are caused by an incompatibility with the database configuration on the host and I’m still trying to hear back from the people that have had the issue.

    My suggestion is, as you would do with all major plugin’s updates, create a staging version of your website and then update the plugin to v2+ on the staging site. This will allow you to verify if there’s any issue with your site without breaking the actual live website.
