• Hello,

I have a question for those experienced in CMS style template design. I would like to know if a drop list style menu is possible? I have viewed hundreds of templates but have yet to see anything with this type of menu design.

    For example:
    http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/pro-droplist.html

If this is possible would it need to be based by both categories and pages or if a way to specifically select the pages would be possible? I hope this makes sense

    – Thanks in advance for anyone who can provide feedback on this.

  • you know.. I’ve had this same issue with sites that I operate. I’ve found that pages work better. But the only problem is that you can’t categorize pages, like you can posts.

A plugin I found, lets you create categories for pages.- http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/misiek-page-category/

And to answer your question, yes you can do dropdown menus.. you just need to find the code, here

    Hope that helps.

Also. If you find a better way to organize your menus with pages/categories/posts, please let me know! 🙂

Thank you RanchNachos for the reply that plugin may come in handy! 🙂

I am familiar with the standard dropdowns and suckerfish style dropdowns, however a drop “list” menu I have never seen done in WordPress. The css code isn’t really the issue because Stu Nicholls displays wonderful examples over on CssPlay.

Here is another example of the menu

Still seeking information on this … thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

one good way to organize pages/categories/posts is to have the home page of your site be the blog page w/ all posts listed there. the other pages of the site open up to pages and can be linked to the blog posts. here is a great example of a simple design that does this:

Thank you for the reply but that wasn’t really related to my question.

I just want to know if it is possible for a drop line style menu to be done in WordPress. If it is possible I am seeking a bit of information on how it can be done or perhaps outsource a project to someone to create the code.

My question regarding pages/categories was more directed towards organizing the droplist menu assuming it is even possible to do. This is for a CMS style wordpress site, so there wont be a blog involved.

It is really an awesome menu style, sort of shocking with all of the professional wordpress CMS style templates out there that no one has done this yet.

I truly appreciate the replies so far but still hoping that someone can answer this for me. Perhaps I posted in the wrong forum but my question is template based so I thought I would start here.

    Thank you.

Anyone know if this is made more feasible with the new WordPress 3 menu system?
