Right now, no. AWPCP doesn’t track that in the form. That’s something we can consider for future development, but not something the plugin allows for today. We track it on the ad submission though. The ad poster’s IP is added to the record, just not for contacts.

Yes please do consider it in the future as there is an increasing amount of fake “interest” posts Nigerian style and I’m probably not the only one experiencing this!
One thing to consider is turning on the AKismet integration for AWPCP. I’m pretty sure that covers the Contact Form as well.

I always use WP Spamshield (which makes Akismet worthless) but the problem are real human scammers that reply to ads, not robots. They reply to ads – not posting ads (which is not the same scam). They reply to ads selling cars or homes in order to get the posters contact and then they have a scenario for asking money.
Most of the time they are the same Nigerians that sell non existing iPhones on FB with fake profiles.
So the problem here is not spam but scam.
Identifying the sender’s IP would be very helpful in such cases as you can block it for further access.
