Support » Plugin: Invite Anyone » Invite Anyone Upgrade Issues

  • I’ve tried upgrading from Invite Anyone version 0.8.9 to 0.9.3. When I do the upgrade I get this message:
    Unpacking the update…
    Installing the latest version…
Removing the old version of the plugin…
Could not remove the old plugin.
    Plugin upgrade failed.

Now, Invite Anyone is nowhere to be seen in my plugins list and even when I try to re-install the old version (both manually and through the plugins system), it’s still not there.

Same thing when I try a manual install of the new version. Removed the old files and folders and tried to plug in the new one, but nothing works. Any ideas?

  • Same thing happened to me.
But I had 0.9.3 installed and tried to upgrade to 1.0

During installation it said “The plugin does not have a valid header”.
After that it disappeared from the Plugin list.
If I search for it in “New Plugin” page and then click on the plugin name – there is no “Install now” link (nor “Upgrade”), so it disappeared completely.

Any ideas on what to do?
Happy even to back to the previous version, how to do that?

    WP Version 3.2.1

for the “The plugin does not have a valid header” issue, go to…

Plugins -> Installed Plugins -> Invite Anyone -> Edit

change the first 3 lines from:

ie. remove the blank line from between <?php and the /*

You should then be able to activate the plugin.

Having said that, I’ve activated it and still can’t see the Send Invite link 🙁

This problem (described in the first post) still exists when upgrading from v1.0.10 to v1.0.11.

To resolve, once the upgrade fails, simply go to Plugins -> Add New, search for invite anyone, and install – it then succeeds (and retains your previous settings thankfully!)
