    Been using invisible recaptcha in Formidable for a long time, years. I can say for sure I can’t remember the last time I did any changes to recaptcha settings (so at least 6 months). Get about 5 form submissions a day. Just recently, without making any changes to Formidable forms (only thing that has been done is update the plugin regularly) a couple users said they got the recaptcha failed message. But it was just a couple different cases. Forms test fine. Other people able to submit the form. Never had this happen before in all the time I’ve used Formidable, at least never been notified. Now I’m worried how many other sporadic cases happened in the past I’m not aware of.

    Has anyone else run into this? Should I switch to a certain recaptcha version? V2? V2? Visible? Invisible? For better reliability?

    I just tried testing my form without being a logged in user and got the recaptcha failure!

    I just remembered that after installing Wordfence a few months back I had some issues with it blocking functions (form updating) in Formidable and you had to confirm to whitelist it.

    So I disabled Wordfence and it worked. But nope I tried it again, and it failed even with the Wordfence plugin disabled!

    Something odd going on.

    More updates. The recaptcha fails on the first submit. Then if you just resubmit the form again without changing anything, it works!

    Hi there,

    This is an unusual issue. I can not reproduce it on my dev site, and we have not had any other users report similar problems recently. Formidable supports only reCaptcha V2 and we recommend using invisible reCaptcha for the best user experience. Can you please ensure you are using V2 reCaptcha keys, and that the key type matches the setting on your site? Checkbox keys can not be used for invisible reCaptcha and vice versa.

    If that does not help, it would be helpful to test to see if anything on your site is interfering with Formidable and causing the issue.

    Could you please go through the following steps?

    If the issue doesn’t show up under these circumstances, you can add each item back in, one at a time, and test after adding each one until you find the culprit.
