# Invisible Plugins?

 * I’m pretty new to WordPress, so sometimes I don’t know whether something is broken
   or whether I just don’t get how it works. I’ve successfully installed a couple
   of useful plugins (TablePress, Countdown & Clock). After activating them, they
   appear in the Dashboard area above the ‘Appearance’ option.
 * But I’ve installed several other plugins, (like BracketNinja) where the activation
   goes smoothly, but there’s just no apparent way to engage with it, because they*
   don’t* appear in the Dashboard list. For instance, I just installed “Health Check&
   Troubleshooting” since I saw it recommended here . . . but now what? Is there
   some other means of accessing the plugin?

 * I’ve been doing this for years now and still run into new plugins where I install
   them then have to do some digging to find any settings info if there is any…
 * Some plugins create their own entry in the main dashboard list while others create
   a settings section in the settings area of the dashboard.
 * Then there are a few that have no settings and pretty much do their job from 
   the background without further interaction.
 * A few plugins will only allow admins to work with them so they may be hidden 
   from the other users and a few are must use plugins or dropins that require files
   to configure their features.
 * All of this should be covered in the individual plugin’s documentation or by 
   request to the author and/or their support team.
 * Sometimes there is an ‘orphaned’ plugin where you just need to keep digging until
   you find a sympathetic ear or the documentation you need.
 * I’ll always point the user to the author first but I’m open to revisiting the
   issue if the user informs me they can’t get help. Of course, I seldom help with
   commercial plugins that are being actively supported as that’s just not right.
 * Another resource would be the forums at Stack Exchange for even more technical
   help.
