Support » Plugin: LoginWP (Formerly Peter's Login Redirect) » Intrusive Marketing & Branding

  • This has always been a great plugin up until now and which I have used on a number of websites.

However, after what seems to have been a takeover recently (from Peter’s Login Redirect) the plugin has now positioned its menu in the root of the WordPress navigation (as if that wasn’t cluttered enough) and displays ads for the new Pro version.

Previously, the plugin’s menu was housed under settings. This made delivering websites to clients much easier as you could more easily hide access to this for certain client roles whilst enabling it for others.

The ads show in notifications (which I can dismiss but a client also needs to do this and it creates noise for them) and within the plugins settings pages.

The fact is I would be very open to paying for a premium version of this plugin based on increased functionality and value. But to try and push me in that direction by obtrusively planting branding and ads has an adverse effect where I have lost trust. So, I’ll probably look elsewhere.

  • Couldn’t have said it better. In fact, my review just before yours pretty much said the same thing.

I actually asked if purchasing the premium version would allow me to push/hide the plugin under /Settings and answer was No.

Now, a week later, they’ve added a new Admin popup message to invite you to leave a 5-star review.

Does “Peter” know about all of this? He did it right. I want Peter back.
