Support » Plugin: WP Theme Test » Internationalization (defaults to Japanese)

  • Resolved Esteban

    There’s a problem with this plugin and non-english WordPress installations.

    All the default phrases into the plugin are in japanese:

    <h1>WP Theme Test</h1>
    <p><?php $this->e( 'ログインしているユーザーにだけ、テーマを変更して表示することができます。' ) ?></p>

    I tested this plugin in a spanish WP installation, and everything in unreadable:
    If wasn’t for the provided screenshot in the’s plugin page, i would not have been able to proper configure the settings.

    I think the proper way to internationalize any plugin or theme, is to write the _e and __ functions in english, so the fallback is in english (wp’s default) when no translation is provided.

    In the way is written now, and just having english as a translation, the plugin is really difficult to set up.

    English is not my primary language, but i really think plugins and themes should fall back to it when no translation is provided. And with more reason in this case because this plugin is aimed primarily to developers or theme implementators at least, if I’m not mistaken.

    Hope something can be done about this, and we don’t have to provide . Please.

    I just had the same problem.
    What I did is to copy in /wp-content/plugins/wp-theme-test/languages/ the 2 files :

    with my language and country code WP installation, like this :

    I was enable after that to read the page in english.
    Up to you after to translate the 2 files in your language, but still you leave in english is much better that japanese.

    The plugin seems to be young, sure they will correct it.
