 * i’m not particularly technical & i’m trying to move a blog to a different folder
   on my domain.
 * i’ve got as far as deploying the install file but get the following error message:-
 * server code: 500
    status: Internal Server Error response: Internal Server Error
 * The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to
   complete your request.
 * Please contact the server administrator, [HIDDEN] and inform them of the time
   the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the
   error.
 * More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
 * Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument
   to handle the request.
 * …
 * cpanel error logs basically say that a 500 file refered to by the installer does
   not exist.
 * i’ve tried deleting .htaccess and wp-config.php in the new destination folder,
   and deleting entire contents of that folder except the installer and zip file,
   but keep getting the same error.
 * please could you help me fix this ?

 * Hey markwebstar,
 * Here is a helpful section on the FAQs page:
    -> Browse To: [http://lifeinthegrid.com/duplicator-faq/](http://lifeinthegrid.com/duplicator-faq/)-
   > Find Section: “3. Troubleshoot” -> See Area/Question: “I got an “Internal Server
   500″ message what should I do?”
 * Usually with 500 errors there is not do much plugin authors can do. In this case
   you will need to contact your hosting provider and have them help you look at
   the issue…

 * thanks. i’ve already combed through your faq’s & couldn’t see any possible fixes.
   i will try my host.
 * if it’s a permissions problem then i don’t understand what & how to change it.

 * i’ve also tried starting over from the beginning and get a 500 error when creating
   the package … i now remember this happened the first time, but i ignored it because
   checking the zip file, it appeared to be complete. is this a separate issue to
   the install error or likely to be the same problem ? and also something i need
   my host to fix ?
 * the package error is :-
 * AJAX Response Duplicator.Pack.Create

 * Hey Markwebstar,
 * In your cause it looks like its running for about 90 seconds and then it dies.
   This is usually related to a timeout issue where your host will not let any process
   run for more than 90 seconds. You will need to contact your host and ask them
   how to allow PHP process to run for more than 90 seconds or you may have to apply
   a filter (see options dialog) if the site is to large….

 * hello & thanks. i contacted my host, who said …
 * Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately we do not allow any installations of
   modules or plugins beyond what our administrators have already loaded into the
   server. I am sorry that you will not be able to use the duplicator module as
   a means to transfer your wordpress site. If all else fails, I suggest contacting
   a web developer to assist you with the move.
 * … so it looks like i’ll have to give up with duplicator and find anther way.

 * Hey mark,
 * Sorry you couldn’t get it going on your host… I’m sure if they would increase
   the php timeout past 90 seconds it would probably let the process finish backing
   up your site which would allow you to get the package and installer file…

 * it seems that the previous support message was not quite correct, but unfortunately
   in the meantime, i’ve attempted to follow the instructions at [http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress](http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress)
 * (the site seems to be working okay in the new folder but now i can’t login to
   WP at the old address.)
 * anyway, i’m going to persist with uk2 in case i need duplicator again at a later
   date. i’ll let them know about extending the php time out, but meanwhile, here’s
   there latest response, which might mean something to you …
 * Thank you for your reply. I do apologize for the inconvenience and confusion
   on this matter. You can install any WordPress plugin that you wish. The only
   requirement is that it is up to date. If not, it may not work correctly.
 * It appears that the Duplicator plugin is using Zend Optimizer and an outdated
   version of IonCube. They seem to be using modules from PHP 5.2.x. It needs to
   be updated so it is compatible with PHP 5.3.x. Also, I would recommend you verify
   that your WordPress installation and all its plugins are up to date. Once that
   is done, you can try installing the Duplicator plugin again. If you still experience
   problems, we may be able to assist you further, however, in order to do that
   we will need you to provide us the login details to the admin area of you WordPress
   installation. This will allow us to re-create the error while monitoring our
   error logs to pin point the exact error.

 * Hey mark,
 * I don’t think your host really know what they are talking about… It almost sounds
   like a canned response they give users so they don’t have to help them…
 * The code is GPL I don’t know of any plugin in the WordPress repository plugins
   directory that uses IonCube, that would violate the Free WordPress repository
   plugins guidelines… The plugin works fine on thousands of different hosts and
   on PHP 5.3 just fine. I would consider your choice of hosts they sound a bit
   shady to me…
 * There is no error to recreate. This is the error…
 * >  duration: 90.334 secs
   > code: 500 status: Internal Server Error
 * The process timing out at either the Apache layer or PHP layer because of restrictions
   setup by you hosting company…

 * further news from next level support …
 * “Thank you for your reply. I apologize for any confusion, the errors Myles was
   seeing were related to some of the settings in your php.ini being out of date.
   To resolve this, I have updated /home/markwebb/public_html/php.ini to reference
   the correct version of Zend Guard Loader. I have also raised the timeout for
   your script as suggested by the plugin developer.”

 * Hey Mark,
 * Package creation times all depend on the hosts server configuration and how much
   resources are being used. If your on a server with 1000 other uses and even a
   portion of those sites are consuming moderate to heavy traffic then it could
   take a long time for 400MB and in many cases just won’t finish at all… It looks
   like yours is stopping around 9mins.
 * I have a shared host and packing around 500MB can range from 7mins to upto 18mins.
   The same size on a VPS I have can be done in 3-4 mins. It really depends on the
   overall environment.
 * You might try some of the suggestions on the FAQ related around timeout issues,
   as in your case you might have to use the directory exclusion filters.

 * i think i’ve finally found the source of my problems with duplicator and backwpup…
 * backwpup was not deleting temp files from uncompleted / aborted backups, these
   were bloating the size of the blog & meant there were some very (unnecessary)
   large files causing problems. after deleting these files, i’ve successfully run
   backwpup and duplicator a couple of times.

 * Hi,
 * I’m having the same problem as Mark; I’m also with UK2 and also got a ‘is your
   software up to date?’ ‘does Duplicator support PHP 3.2.6?’ reply.
 * Following Mark’s lead I tried to find any undeleted temp files and installed
   WP Clean Up. After optimising, my database is less than 300KB (this site is at
   a very early stage of development) and I have just two themes Avada and Avada
   Child installed. The total for the package is just over 50MB. I tried running
   Duplicator and got the same Internal Server error message. I then tried on another
   of my test sites, stripped out everything apart from the 2012 theme and Duplicator
   and got the same result for a package of just over 40MB.
 * I have been using Duplicator for a while with WordPress sites hosted on UK2 and
   haven’t had this problem before and have to say their support has usually been
   pretty good but there does seem to be a problem here.
 * I don’t have a WP back-up plugin installed as I’m using a UK2 premium back-up
   service. I’ve been through all files and there is nothing unusual. This is the
   server compatibility check:
 * SYS-100: File Permissions Pass
    SYS-101: Reserved Files Pass SYS-102: Zip Archive
   Enabled Pass SYS-103: Safe Mode Off Pass SYS-104: MySQL Support Pass SYS-105:
   PHP Support Pass SYSTEM CHECKS Web Server: Apache Good Open Base Dir: Off Good
   Pre-Zip Overview: 44.9MB 1,275 Files, 118 Folders Cached Data: Cache Directory
   Not Found
 * Here’s the server response:
 * AJAX Response Duplicator.Pack.Create
    duration: 30.525 secs code: 500 status:
   Internal Server Error response:
 * Any ideas? Am I missing something? Is it possibly one of those ‘it will be alright
   in the morning’ situations?
 * Many thanks,
 * Phil

 * Hey Philnicholl,
 * It looks like your having a timeout issue where your server (host) is killing
   the PHP or web server process at around 30 seconds. Check out the FAQ section
   on the knowledge base for timeout issues and contact your host…
