    Hi,
I am a newbie with coding and even wordpress, but if someone could point me to the right direction, I will ask a friend to help me out.

I had a website running wordpress awslaaribi.com. The theme was running fine, but it had one main page and sub main page. When typing awslaaribi.com the sub main page would show up and the actualy main page would show up as awslaaribi.com/home

So like newb, I deleted the sub main page all together. That obviously did not help, as when typing awslaaribi.com, the theme would show up but with can’t find page. So I tried to mess around with permalink and that didn’t work. Then I thought I could redirect /home to the plain URL, so I went to general setting and changed WordPress address (URL) from awslaaribi.com to awslaaribi.com/home and did the same for the Site address (URL). I saved it and now Apache has an error and the site is gone.

Can you point me to way to go back somehow using the back up? Is there a solution to this. Thank you very much

P.S here is some of the logs.

Taking a quick look at awslaaribi.com, it appears you had installed WordPress in the /home/ folder (if you view source you’ll see things like <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://awslaaribi.com/home/wp-content/themes/vision/style.css" type="text/css" media="screen, projection" /> which is how I know).

Before we roll things around, can you go look on your server via FTP and see if there is a HOME folder and files in it?

Thank you for getting back to me.

No there is no folder Home.

In public_html, there wp-content, wp-includes, and index.php all other stuff.

Again, I am no expert, but that’s weird, it shouldn’t have the link u pasted, unless by changing Site adress URL in the general setting, it changed those stuff, which is possible given that the error log says:

[Mon Aug 15 14:16:58 2011] [error] [client 66.249.71.215] File does not exist: /home/awslaari/domains/awslaaribi.com/public_html/404.shtml

[Mon Aug 15 14:33:31 2011] [error] [client 69.157.177.94] Request exceeded the limit of 10 internal redirects due to probable configuration error. Use ‘LimitInternalRecursion’ to increase the limit if necessary. Use ‘LogLevel debug’ to get a backtrace., referer: http://awslaaribi.com/

FYI, the site was working fine for months, and thus it is not an installation problem, if that helps.

    Thanks again!

That’s good! We know what to fix.

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL

You need to change it BACK to awslaaribi.com for BOTH site and home URL.

Once you’ve done that, you should be able to get back in.

Thanks so much!!! Back to square one.

While we are at it, would you know how to make the “Home” page (http://awslaaribi.com/?page_id=265) the main page http://www.awslaaribi.com

This might be theme related I guess?

Either way, the site is back up, thank you very much, I appreciate your help, you saved me 🙂

    That one’s easy 😀

What you’re doing is actually making a ‘static’ front page.
