 * Hi, I may be covering old ground here, but I have read dozens of posts and can’t
   get my issue resolved. I’m a noob to the wordpress community but not completely
   wet behind the ears…
 * I got a blog set up and running successfully, and then decided I wanted it at
   the root of my site, not in /blog. Tried installing in the same manner (just
   new directory) from the wordpress source files and ran through the installation
   from front to back. No luck – server errors and 404’s.
 * I stripped out the entire content of the remote site, began fresh after having
   also trashed the databse and users from MySQL. Complete fresh start. Ran install.
   php and retrieved the automaed password. clicked on login (to enter ‘admin’ and
   new passowrd) but got ‘Internal Server Error 500’. Stripped out all over again,
   trashed all files and databses and went to place back in /blog from the beginning.
   Now the site [http://www.mysite.com/blog](http://www.mysite.com/blog) appears
   OK with the default settings and CSS etc, but if I click Log In, I get the Internal
   Server Error 500 again.
 * I’ve been on to the hosts asking them to check setup at their end and they are
   adamant that nothing has changed in my setup since my first install (the only
   one that actually worked). Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

 * Hi,
    If it’s the blog in your profile, I’m not getting an error on the log in
   page. Did you fix it?

 * Hi
 * I upgraded automatically to 2.8 yesterday for avenariusmusic.com/updates (new
   blog, I’ve only updated the theme, no other changes) and am now getting the same
   server error 500 when trying to login to admin.
 * Here’s the full message:
 * Internal Server Error

   that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available
   in the server error log. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered

 * Did you ever solve the bug?
 * Any help would be much appreciated…

 * Hi,
 * I have exactly the same issue as this (from a first time install into the domain
   root). Can someone please shed some light?!
 * Thanks

 * If you are getting same error message in logs then it is due to incorrect permissions.
   If your host has enabled suPHP on the server, make sure that you have set 644
   permissions to your files.
 * For your information, if suPHP is enabled on the server then you can not assign
   more than 755 permissions to folder and more than 644 permissions to files. Just
   set 644 permissions via FTP. It should fix your problem.
