# Internal Server Error – 500

 * Okay, I’m getting an Internal Server Error – 500 when trying to get to my WordPress
   login or any areas located within WordPress. Now, my guess is that I didn’t do
   anything to cause this, but the pages of my website unrelated to WordPress seem
   to be working fine. So what gives? Did I do something wrong or is this a problem
   I should take up with host?

 * Use your ftp program or cpanel and find then delete the .htaccess file – it will
   be in the same directory as your WP install.

 * I’m experiencing this same problem* so I looked in the directory where I have
   WordPress installed and there is no .htaccess file. Do you have any other suggestions
   for what the problem might be and how to correct it? Thanks.
 * * I just finished installing the program, there were no errors during configuration,
   and then when I try to go to the login page it displays a server error 500.
