 * I have been receiving random Internal Server Error messages since installing
   this plugin. It never happened before but now it seems to happen quite often.
   I have only seen it on the backend – such as when I save a post – so I don’t
   know if it’s affecting the frontend at all.
    Doesn’t matter, I need it to stop
   doing that, it’s annoying. I haven’t lost anything – I can always just reload
   and it takes me back to my post and it has saved – but it’s tedious. I assume
   it’s something I have set incorrectly in the plugin, but I wouldn’t have a single
   clue as to where to start looking. I suppose I could just reset everything to
   default and start from scratch, but wouldn’t it be nicer if you just told me
   where to start looking? 🙂 Thanks!

 * Hi,
 * Could you update to the most current version and see if that helps?
 * Thanks,

 * WAIT! Sorry, I thought you meant the new version of WordPress (I was using 4.1,
   it just updated itself to 4.1.1) but I just saw there’s a new update for this
   plugin. More testing required … will report back shortly!

 * Nope, sorry, still getting the error message.

 * I’m getting the same error repeatedly and seeming randomly when the website loads–
   even when I try to update plugin settings.

 * I apologize if I am taking over this thread but I am having the same problem.
   I keep getting this warning (along with the Internal Server Error):
 * “Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 30408704) (tried to allocate 1195477 bytes)
   in …wp-content/plugins/better-wp-security/modules/free/backup/class-itsec-backup.
   php on line 210”

 * On line 210 (which the error refers to) it says:
    `$row[$j] = preg_replace( '#'.
   PHP_EOL . '#', "\n", $row[$j] );`
 * I’m also getting errors for line 145.

 * Have just updated to 4.6.10 and still having the problem. It happens on both
   back and front end.
 * Other installed plugins:
    Akismet Auto ThickBox Plus Jetpack by WordPress.com
   Missed Schedule Simple Yearly Archive
 * Installed but not active:
    Add From Server
 * I will do the usual deactivation of these and re-test when I have the time, but’
   til then maybe you know of conflicts that exist against any of these? Or can
   guess that certain ones may have a conflict, so I can start there?
 * Any help is appreciated. I think your plugin is otherwise great – easy to use
   and mostly easy to understand. 🙂 (The stuff I don’t understand, I leave alone!)
 * Thanks!

 * UPDATE:
 * I deactivated all other plugins except Akismet and still get the Internal Server
   Error.
 * Then I reactivated all other plugins and deactivated iThemes Security. I no longer
   get the Internal Server Error.
 * So it’s definitely a problem with this plugin. Right?
 * I am going to try re-installing iThemes Security and leave the settings at Default
   and see what happens.

 * Hmmm … not sure if I am just talking to myself here or if anyone is actually
   listening.
 * I re-installed iThemes Security and followed the popup instructions to get it
   going and then left it. No error messages. Then I went into the Dashboard and
   the first “High Priority” item was to schedule backups, so I did. I only checked
   the box to activate backups. And when I clicked Save Changes, I got the Internal
   Server Error. Then I got it a couple more times, while viewing and saving posts.

   I disabled Backups and no longer get the error message.
 * So here’s the thing: on installing the plugin, the first popup that comes up
   shows four things to do first, the first of which advises to backup the site.
   I click the button to do it and it shows “Waiting”. And it showed waiting for
   two or three hours before I finally clicked the Dismiss link in the bottom corner.(
   I should note that this happened the first time I installed as well – it took
   forever to backup and I hit Dismiss.)
    I don’t know if there’s too much on my
   site to backup or if there’s a corruption somewhere, but it really seems to have
   a problem backing it up, and it seems obvious that is what was throwing up the
   error messages.
 * Hopefully that helps you, Gerroald, pinpoint the problem in the plugin, or possibly
   let me know if there is something I can do to be able to use the Backups option.
 * Thanks!
