Internal server error

  • I’m getting the generic internal server error I’m sure most users are familiar with. I can’t even access my admin page to log-in anymore and the entire site is down (www.spultured.com). I was playing around in one of the facebook comments plugin .php files and all of a sudden everything is down after I literally only added a few sets of []. Any ideas on how to fix this? I’m no wordpress expert but am not a novice either.
    Thanks in advance

  • It’s possible that the server error is being caused by something besides WordPress, if that’s the case you probably want to get in contact with your hosting provider (or server admin, as the case may be).

Have you tried uploading a plain .txt file to your site’s main directory, then accessing it from a browser? If you can read it, it’s probably WordPress, but if you get a server error, it’s probably not.

Also, try deleting the plugin folder in question (the one you were editing). Download a copy to your machine first, and if deleting it from the server doesn’t help, you can re-upload it.
