Internal liinks lead to 404 error

  • I have a new blog up at http://cookinghour.com and every internal link leads to a 404 error, including about us, contact, comments, etc. I’m using WP version 2.8.4. Some other posts here at the forum say it’s a Permalinks issue. I changed the permalinks to my preferred type in the settings area. It’s been over 12 hours since I did that. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Yes – try resetting your custom permalinks to the default setting. If that works, then try reading:

before setting a custom permalink structure back up again.

Yeah, that did the trick. I still want to use the type of permalinks I’d set them to (which actually wasn’t custom, just one of the other ones WP provides), so I’ll have to read up on the changes at the link you provided. I’ve never run into this issue with other WP blogs. Thanks, esmi.

It could have been just a rewrite/.htaccess hiccup. They do happen sometimes. It might be worth checking the contents of your .htaccess file if you can FTP into your site.

    Cool, I’ll check it out.
