Last modified: August 19, 2016 --- # Intermittent Database Connection Errors – Help!!! * Resolved [itchytrig](https://wordpress.org/support/users/itchytrig/) * (@itchytrig) * [17 years ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/intermittent-database-connection-errors-help/) * Hi, * Started the famous 5 minute install at 7.30 am this morning and its now 11.45am… * Everything seemed to go pretty well, got the login screen, entered the dashboard, went to add a user, added a user, went to add another user, then got the: * > Error establishing a database connection > This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config. > php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. > This could mean your host’s database server is down. > * Are you sure you have the correct username and password? > * Are you sure > that you have typed the correct hostname? * Are you sure that the database > server is running? > If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. > If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums. * Error! I can go back to the previous page OK, but not anywhere else? This is driving me nuts!
