You can send newsletters via your domain email system but I don’t recommend it because…

    1. Some hosts forbid sending bulk emails such as newsletters.
    2. Its a good way to trigger spam filters and get your domain locked out of some email servers, even if your emails are legitimate. The MSN/Hotmail system is particularly sensitive to this. Google it. They’ve locked out whole University email systems.

    Thanks for that advice.

Does anybody know of a safe email program that can integrate with the WordPress login/registration?

I don’t know one that completely integrates with WP but this one adds a Constant contact signup form. Its not hard to export WP user and import them into Constant Contact though. I know some very non-technical– one might say anti-technical– people who do it all the time.
