Insufficient permissions to access my dashboard

  • I uploaded a new theme and somehow the them activated itself. As a result when I go to the dashboard I get this error message “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” I would like to get back into my dashboard and use a theme that I have permissions for, but I have no idea how to do that because I can not even access my dashboard. How do I fix this and go back into my dashboard?

    somehow the them activated itself

A theme cannot activate itself. Try switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

I am using bluehost to host my website. Can I do this through there. I am new to this and really have no idea how to get back into wp-content. I cannot even get into my settings :/ Do you have any step by step notes that I can follow?

You will need to ask your hosts for assistance with FTP.
