• Had to completely give up upgrading and decided to just install from scratch in a new database.

I put my database info into wp-config.php (double & triple checked it)
I went to the readme.html and from there to the install script.
Put in my site name and my email address.

    install.php?step=2 was a blank page…..

    Now what?

update: firefox gives the blank page
    safari says:
Safari can’t open the page “http://thinsoldier.com/wordpress/”. The error was: “Operation could not be completed. (kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork error 302.)” (kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork:302) Please choose Report Bugs to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.

But I can get any other file on my site.

I looked in the database and saw there the wordpress tables were created and the users table had a user in it but I have no idea what the password is. Are the passwords md5?

Anyway, I added another user record with an md5 password. Went to the login page. that page shows up fine, tried to log in and just get another blank page in firefox and that same message in safari.

I overwrote the .htaccess file with an empty file and was able to get the front page of wordpress. Clicking the 1 default comment results in an empty page/error message from before (firefox & safari).

I then went to the uncategorized category page (http://thinsoldier.com/wordpress/?cat=1) in firefox and that page worked. Visiting the same page in safari gave that error again.
Visiting the same url again in firefox again gave a blank page again.
