# install.php file does not run

 * Hello,
 * I have installed a new wordpress blog by following the 5-minute installation 
   guide.
 * However, when I point my browser to the install.php file, the file does not run.
   Instead, I am prompted to either save it or open it. When I try to open it, the
   browser window just blinks and then nothing happens. I have checked my web server
   and PHP is installed and running.
 * How could I resolve this?
 * Thank you.

 * Your _own web server_ that your administer, or a web host?
 * On a web host, try adding
 * `AddType application/x-httpd-php5 .php`
 * to the .htaccess file. And if it’s your own web server, do that and be sure you’ve
   configured php in httpd.conf.

 * PHP was actually not running on the web server, so I couldn’t run the install
   file.
