 * I uploaded the wordpress files to my public directory with the remaned install.
php as instructed. However, when I try to open it in my IE browser with the path:

   OR [http://spiritcommunity.com/public/wp-admin/install.php](http://spiritcommunity.com/public/wp-admin/install.php)
 * I get no results. What should I do to fix this?

 * It’s not going to find install.php if you renamed it.

 * The sceond post was an accident. Sorry!
 * The instructions specifically state in step 3:
 * 1. Download and unzip the WordPress package, if you haven’t already.
    2. Create
a database for WordPress on your web server, as well as a MySQL user who has
all privileges for accessing and modifying it. 3. Rename the wp-config-sample.
php file to wp-config.php. 4. Open wp-config.php in your favorite text editor
and fill in your database details.
 * Subsequently, I found I used the wrong path. It is: [http://www.spiritcommunity.com/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php](http://www.spiritcommunity.com/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php)
 * The message there is:
Error establishing a database connection This either means
that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect
or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s
   database server is down.
 * Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    Are you sure that you
have typed the correct hostname? Are you sure that the database server is running?
 * Hence, step 2 seems to be my problem. I don’t understand what I need to do about
setting up the database, as I never worked with that part of my server before.
