• I’m trying to install wordpress to an existing website through GoDaddy.com. I followed the instructions to install the WordPress app, waited 24 hours, and the account says it was successfully installed. When I go to the website url with /wp-admin/ I just get a white blank screen.

Any suggestions as to how I can login and begin making changes to the existing site?

The old site was through a CMS called Google Sites, which is very basic and primitive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I’m having same / similar problem…

I have tried to add WordPress to a site I’m setting up on Godaddy. It has been installing for the last 24 hours. I have tried re-installing afresh but same issue.

How long does it typically take to install?

    Any help will be appreciated!

I always believe you are better off installing WordPress yourself rather than rely on the a webhosting companies self-install version.

To install wordpress on an existing website, eg. http://www.example.com/blog then you’d need to create a new directory called blog and then copy all the wordpress files to this subfolder. Then when you go to this url the install wizard should begin.

Let me know if you need more help/advice.

I agree with WP Ebooks, especially when it comes to Godaddy’s WP install. When I used it I had to wait up 48hrs 🙁 I switched to Hostgator, their quick intaller really takes just a 60 secs to get WP up and running.
