I’m trying to install WordPress over the top of a preexisting website (the site is http://www.michelesibiloni.com for those who would like to have a look). I’ve created an instance on the hosting (which is Gandi), uploaded the WP files via sFTP (to the ‘htdocs’ directory) and created a database. But when I navigate to michelesibiloni.com/wp-admin/install.php I get nothing except an apologetic 404 message. Does anybody have any clue what might be wrong?
(Please note- I have re-uploaded the old site temporarily while I figure out how to install WP, so that is why if you visit you will still see the old site).
I have been trying to figure this out for two days now, and it’s got me totally stumped (though I am very inexperienced, so that probably explains it). Any help really, really appreciated.
