• Hello.

I’d like to install WordPress on my own machine and I’m using Podz’s tutorial. However, his tutorial uses XAMPP, which I don’t have installed. Instead, I have installed and configured Apache, PHP, and MySQL months ago.

So, my question is, is it possible to install WordPress locally without XAMPP? If not, can I just install XAMPP without any regard of the old Apache, PHP, and MySQL? But if it is possible, how do I go about it?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Yes, you can install it locally without XAMPP.

You’ll just have to install phpmyadmin manually, if you haven’t already and skip directly to the phpMyAdmin section in the tutorial.

Oh, thank you. Say, I’d prefer to follow the tutorial word by word, can I just install XAMPP without having any problems caused by the old Apache, PHP and MySQL?

Or should I delete them first?

In that case you should uninstall the old Apache, PHP end MySQL first, because I don’t think XAMPP allows for side-by-side execution.
