Support » Installing WordPress » Installing WordPress locally on a shared network server?

  • Work are looking for a simple web environment that users can create accounts, login in, make posts and pages etc.

Having set up WordPress for my own photography site I thought that WordPress would be perfect and easy for this.

Everyone at work has access to a shared network folder, so it could be hosted there.

However doing a quick Google search, installing WordPress locally involves using a program such as XAMPP (is that right?) to emulate web functions. Would this need to be constantly running on a machine?

Of course if everyone leaves work and shuts down, would still want the local site up and running so that it can always be accessed. (The network drives are always online)

    Is that possible?

    Thanks
