  • Hello!
I’m about to install wordpresss 4.9.4 in my own domain where I do have an online html website working (site has many years, and it’s fully indexed by google several years ago).

However I want to make a new website using WordPress, generate the content and when done, remove the old html content and get the new site indexed.

So I’m uncertain about how proceed. For instance the installation first step ask me where to install:

If A: I install there won’t that kill my current index page and mess the files?
Or B: I better install to a subdirectory?

If B: how then I avoid the content on my subdirectorly (let´s callit “wp”) be indexed by now, and how to I move the content from /wp to / once I finish the creation of pages?

    Thanks a lot in advance

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Try installing WordPress in a sub-folder (eg install in /home/BLA/public_html/wp with a root url of so that you can work on the new site without disturbing your old site. Once you have finished work and are ready to launch your new WP site, have a look at allowing WordPress to take over the root domain
