 * I would like to create a second unrelated website – hosted by the same hosting
   company – I already have a wordpress (selfhosted) site – should i download a 
   second copy of wordpress for the second website?

 * Yes, you need a second copy of WordPress and a new database also.

 * Yes download latest version(always recommend) of WordPress and also create a 
   new database, new mysql user(optional) for that site.

 * The other option is to enable multisite so that you only have one installation
   for an unlimited number of separate blogs.

 * If you are using cPanel you can create a pointer to the folder with additional
   WordPress installation. Setup additional database and that’s it.

   after that again install.

   plugins like ‘duplicator’ etc.
