Installing under a 3rd Domain

  • LeesaMcLellan

    @leesamclellan

I have 2 non-WP existing domains run by the same host, Lunarpages.

Today I installed WordPress and wanted it under a 3rd domain I just purchased, also run by the same host.

I used Lunar’s Softacalous to install WP and it appears to have messed up one of my existing domains. I probably didn’t direct the files to be installed in the correct folder.

Does it install a file “index.php” which takes authority over an existing “index.html_” file?

If I delete this .php file, will my original domain return to it’s original form?

I’ve already deleted all the files that began with “wp” but I don’t know what else the installation has messed with so I’m scared to delete anything else.

    Thanks in advance
    Leesa

  • index.php can take over depending on server config

rename it to oldindex.php and that will let the index.html take over – likely

    Thanks Samuel,

Well, I gave that a try and instead of receiving the error message, I now have my hosting services “holding” page.

There must be another file that’s been installed by WP that’s still interfering with my page.

    🙁

    Success!!!

I noticed the index.html file ended with an underscore. Removed that and my domain is back to normal.

    Thanks Samuel for your help.

    Cheers
