Support » Themes and Templates » Installing Theme on localhost

  • Hi there,

I’m currently fiddlin around with installing wordpress locally on my development machine. More specifically, I’m trying to add a new theme (Easel to be more precice). Once I get to uploading the theme from the “Install Theme” tab, WordPress asks me to enter connection information for my FTP server.

But that’s just it, I don’t have an FTP server, I’m working locally. So, how do I go about finishing this instllation? Do I have to set up a local FTP server?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Your working locally? Using XAMPP? WAMP?
If that’s the case then you can just copy the theme directly into the themes directory of your current wordpress installation.

Weill thats what I this initially, but for some reason, it does not show up in the theme section. I read somewhere that you have to make sure that the directory of the theme ZIP file contains what you need (and not a sub-directory). But it seems fine to me.

Oh, and I’m using LAMP on Ubuntu.

It might be a rights on the newly created directory (Although I think I checked). I’ll check that out just in case.
