Installing theme into GoDaddy host acct. (newbie here) (5 posts)

I have a GoDaddy hosting acct. for my blog (bloggirl.info). I installed WordPress into my acct. via godaddy.com control admin page. I am able to log into WordPress via my domain in my browser, but when it comes to installing a new theme, I am confused.

I read in the help files that once I find a theme and download it, I then need to upload it to the directory on my host that houses the themes. The problem is that the FTP is not letting me upload the FOLDER for the theme. It will only let me upload a single file... and as we know, themes have many files.

What am I doing wrong??? This is really delaying things for me. Please help soon.

Download File-Zilla and drag the theme folder in to the
    wp-content/themes/ folder.

    Hope that works :)

Use the http://www.net2ftp.com/ to login to your ftp account and use it to upload the whole zip file to your theme directory. This site is totally secure and have used it several times.

All great advice. You also may find the following documentation on themes and uploading files to your website helpful.

Thanks, everyone for your fabulous input. I chose a theme and figured out how to customize it. Wish I still had that old copy of Photoshop... I've had to use paint for my header (on my blog).

    Check it out at http://bloggirl.info.
